Graham Potter's charges have been far from convincing so far this term, with the team currently placed 10th in the Premier League standings with just 25 points.

Chelsea's struggles have largely been occasioned by injuries to key players, with at least six players currently injured.

Defence is the most-affected department, with Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and ben Chilwell among the players on the treatment table.

Chelsea land Benoit Badiashile

Chelsea now seems to have laid down an elaborate plan to seal the gaps, with the west London side adding Monaco star Badiashile to their ranks.

Goal reports the French star is Chelsea's first major signing of the January transfer window, with the youngster expected to strengthen the team's backline.

The Blues confirmed the defender's signing on Thursday, January 5.

"Benoit Badiashile has completed a permanent transfer to Chelsea from AS Monaco, signing a seven-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge," the club said in a statement.

The signing of Badiashile is expected to give Potter more options on the left flank, especially in the absence of Reece James, who is injured.

Chelsea fans want Potter sacked

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Graham Potter has come under fire from a section of Chelsea fans, who want him sacked.

The Blues boss found himself on the receiving end after his side drew against relegation-courting Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea were hoping to secure a favourable result to boost their chances of making the top four in the Premier League.

They will now be hoping to get their campaign back on track when they face Man City on Thursday night, January 5, at Stamford Bridge.
